Feature and Follow Friday #10

Alison Can Read Feature & Follow

Feature and Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee.

Question of the Week: How have your reading habits changed in the past few years? Did you get interested in a new genre? Do you read more? Less? Why do you think your habits changed, if they did.

This is a really good question. I guess my biggest reading change is my YA obsession. Back in high school it was Nora Roberts and V.C.Andrews (until she started to freak me out). Then in college it as fantasy, some time after college I was hooked into YA, I feel like I've been reading it forever, but it honestly has only been about three years.

  1. Hopping through. i tried reading VC Andrews when I was about 12 but couldn't get into it. I feel like I missed out on the childhood naughty book.

    1. Haha. Yeah I'd call them naughty and confusing. I had to draw a family tree once to figure out if the two main characters crushing on each other were first or second cousins. That's when I decided it was time to set those aside.

    1. I feel like 90% of the readers in the world went through it too, even my mom. It's real weird when you think about what happens in some of those books.

  4. I read more YA now that I am an adult than I ever did as a teen, but then back when I was a teen it wasn't as HUGE as it is now. I read more Steven King and Harlequins when I was a teen..lol.

    1. Steven King probably would have give me nightmares. It was amazing what I could see in the shadows of my room in the middle of the night! lol.

    1. There's just so much to choose from in YA. I wish my life could have been as cool when I was in high school, alas I must relive my youth through my book characters. Except the Hunger Games, I don't want to live through that. lol.

  7. I remember my V.C. Andrews phase and the following freak-out at some of the crazy things in the books. Hah. It's like a badge of honor.

    1. You're right. There should be a "V.C.Andrews kind of traumatized me" fan club.

  8. It's awesome how your reading has shifted from Nora Roberts to fantasy to YA! I've mostly read just YA, and children's books when I was younger but I hope to branch out. Thanks for sharing! :)

    1. Yeah I was obsessed with the romance in Nora Roberts books, I get some of that in the YA books, but there are so many plots to choose from that I feel like it's a bigger world!
