After winning the trust of the terra indigene residing in the Lakeside Courtyard, Meg Corbyn has had trouble figuring out what it means to live among them. As a human, Meg should be barely tolerated prey, but her abilities as a cassandra sangue make her something more.

The appearance of two addictive drugs has sparked violence between the humans and the Others, resulting in the murders of both species in nearby cities. So when Meg has a dream about blood and black feathers in the snow, Simon Wolfgard—Lakeside's shape-shifting leader—wonders whether their blood prophet dreamed of a past attack or of a future threat.

As the urge to speak prophecies strikes Meg more frequently, trouble finds its way inside the Courtyard. Now the Others and the handful of humans residing there must work together to stop the man bent on reclaiming their blood prophet—and stop the danger that threatens to destroy them all.

Aaaaaand, I still love Anne Bishop. You know why I love her, I'll tell you why. I love a good romance as much as the next person. But I also love a good story/ mystery. Anne Bishop manages to tell a good story, with just enough romance to make you happy, but it's done in a very realistic way that doesn't overshadow the actual plot of the story.

In this story humans are beginning to revolt against the control that the others have on them. A man has been sent out to hunt for Cassandra Sangue, and we watch Simon try to figure out why he's so ridiculously possessive of Meg. While all of that is happening, Meg's abilities seem to be growing and she's unconsciously formed a pack of human females around herself.

I don't want to say too much about the book without spoilers. Basically I love watching Simon and Meg, their tap dance is amazing. I wish we saw more of Sam because he's adorable. I'm kind of a fan of Nathan, he's hilarious, and I can't wait until book 3 comes out.

5 stars Read this!!
