For Macallan and Levi, it was friends at first sight. Everyone says guys and girls can’t be just friends, but these two are. They hang out after school, share tons of inside jokes, their families are super close, and Levi even starts dating one of Macallan’s friends. They are platonic and happy that way.

Eventually they realize they’re best friends — which wouldn’t be so bad if they didn’t keep getting in each other’s way. Guys won’t ask Macallan out because they think she’s with Levi, and Levi spends too much time joking around with Macallan, and maybe not enough time with his date. They can’t help but wonder . . . are they more than friends or are they better off without making it even more complicated?

From romantic comedy superstar Elizabeth Eulberg comes a fresh, fun examination of a question for the ages: Can guys and girls ever really be just friends? Or are they always one fight away from not speaking again — and one kiss away from true love?

This was a great book. I loved the dynamic between Macallan and Levi. You could really tell that they were the best of friends, yin and yang. The author did such a great job of making you fall in love with their friendship that when things take a turn for the worst you honestly hurt for them. I like how Macallan and Levi provided commentary throughout the book, it was almost as if they were mentally reliving the events of the book as we were reading them.

I loved everything except the communication issues. If Macallan had just opened her mouth there would have been a lot less issues, however the author compensated for that by having Levi and point out (in their commentary in between scenes) that very fact, so it was pretty cute. I will say that it was refreshing to see a boy express his feelings so openly. Go Levi. I loved this book. Go read it!!!

4.5 stars.

  1. I struggle so much where people just need to speak up and communicate! This does sound really good though!

  2. Me too, it drives me crazy, but luckily the book was good enough to keep me from getting too upset about it!
